Changing networks can be daunting. You’ve worked so hard to find a better deal but as soon as it comes to the final step of switching, you have to speak with your network who make you jump even more hoops in order to leave. Not anymore. With Text to Switch, you can send a text to receive a text response with your PAC or STAC code – yes, it’s now that simple!

Here’s what you need to know about Text to Switch.

What is a PAC code?
A PAC code, otherwise known as a Port Authorisation Code is a unique code that is issued by network providers which allow you to ‘port’ (move) your number over from one network to another. This is a quicker and easier way than before, when you had to contact your current network to try to cancel your contract and explain that you were leaving them, only to be inundated with alternative deals and incentives to stay.

How do I get my PAC code?
The Text to Switch process is simple. To get your PAC code, simply text ‘PAC’ to 65075, free of charge. You will receive your code via text and it will be valid for 30 days. You can enter it at the checkout point when purchasing your new phone.

If you have already purchased it, contact your new network directly and give them the code so they can move your number over. It normally takes 1 working day for the switchover to take place and once complete your contract with the old provider will cease and you will no longer be billed.

The text you receive will also include important information such as early termination charges if you’re cancelling before your contract end date.

What is a STAC code?
A STAC code, otherwise known as a Service Termination Authorisation Code is a unique code issued by network providers which allows you to cancel your existing contract with your network provider.

How do I get my STAC code?
To get your STAC code, simply text ‘STAC’ to 75075, free of charge. You will receive your code via text and it will be valid for 30 days. To terminate your existing contract, enter the code at the checkout of your new handset purchase.

If you have already purchased your phone, contact your new network directly and give them the code so they can terminate your current network contract. This normally takes 1 working day until your contract with the old provider will cease and you will no longer be billed.

Will I have to pay an Early Termination Fee (ETF)?
If you are required to pay an Early Termination Fee (ETF), your text message with your PAC or STAC code will include this important information, letting you knoe of any outstanding fees. You can always text ‘INFO’ to 85075 to find out more.

Will it cost me anything?
Sending and receiving the texts to the service are free. If you are required to pay an ETF (Early Termination Fee), then this may be the only fee you incur. Please see FAQ about ETF’s.

What if I don’t use my PAC code?
You have 30 days to use your code.

If you don’t use your PAC code then your number will not be moved over to your new network contract and you will be charged your monthly line rental for both network contracts.

If you do not use your STAC code then your existing contract will not be cancelled and you will be charged your monthly line rental for both network contracts.

What is the difference between a PAC and a STAC code?
A PAC code is a Port Authorisation Code which allows you to keep your phone number, moving your current network number over to your new network.

A STAC code is a Service Termination Authorisation Code which allows you to terminate your existing contract as you set up your new phone contract, without keeping your existing number.
