What does the iPhone 13 look like?

Apple will be launching the new iPhone 13 in 4 different versions – iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. These 4 phones will range in size and price, perfect for different budgets.

In terms of appearance, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better-looking piece of tech than an iPhone, and it’s business as usual with the iPhone 13. The design for the new iPhone hasn’t changed drastically from the 12, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The iPhone 13 has a beautifully sleek, flat-edged design with durable ceramic shield glass on the front – the toughest glass on any smartphone.

There are also a few slight differences between the different models. Both the iPhone 13 and the mini have a glass back and aluminium design. A noticeable difference is that the dual cameras have been arranged diagonally this time around.

Both the Pro and the Pro Max come with a textured matte glass back and, not to outdo themselves, a ‘surgical-grade stainless steel’ design.

Colour-wise, you can pick up both the iPhone 13 and the mini in Starlight (white), Midnight (black), Pink, Blue, and Red.

Plus, the Pro and Pro Max both come in Graphite, Silver, Gold, and the new Sierra Blue colourway.

What features will the next iPhone have?

Ah, now we’re getting onto the good stuff.

    Camera

Apple has constantly been at the top of the game when it comes to their iPhone cameras, and they haven’t rested on their laurels with the iPhone 13.

Both the iPhone 13 and the mini have a dual-camera system with a wide angle and an ultra-wide angle lens. The ultra-wide lens is great for those stunning vista shots as it reveals more detail in the dark areas of your photos. And you won’t have to worry about darker skies ruining that group photo as the wide lens captures 47% more light, for more vivid photos and videos. You also get the sensor-shift optical image feature from the iPhone 12 Pro Max – this means your shots will be steady even if you’re not.

With the iPhone 13 Pro and the Pro Max, you get a triple-camera system that includes all of the above plus an awesome telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, giving you more ways to get creative with your photos. Plus, the ultra-wide camera can focus on objects up to 2cm close. Great for getting up close and personal.

    Video

For all the DIY filmmakers out there, you’ll be excited to know that Apple has packed even more cinematic features into their camera, bringing your videos closer to the real thing. With 4K video recording with the support of Dolby HDR, everything you shoot will look cinema-ready. Plus, with cinematic mode, you’ll be able to focus on different subjects just like they do in the movies. And it doesn’t stop there – once you’ve shot a clip, you can go in and edit the depth of field, change the focus, and tweak other areas of your videos to make them pop.

    Processor and display

The announcement of the iPhone 13 also heralds the announcement of their brand new smartphone processor, the A15 bionic chip, the world’s fastest smartphone chip. What this means is that everything just runs faster, from loading up apps to playing the latest games. And speaking of games, you’ll be able to enjoy them on an OLED super retina XDR display, which means everything looks out of this world. One thing to note is that the screen sizes do differ between the 4 models. The iPhone mini comes in at a compact 5.4”, while both the iPhone 13 and the Pro measure up at a respectable 6.1”. Finally, if you want as much screen as possible, the Pro Max clocks in at 6.7” – perfect for streaming all your favourite films and shows.

    Battery life

The iPhone 13 packs a hell of a punch when it comes to power, and that means it needs a substantial battery life to keep you connected day in, day out. Here’s a breakdown of the battery life across the four models (in terms of video playback):

    iPhone 13 = 19 hours

    iPhone 13 mini = 17 hour

    iPhone 13 Pro = 22 hours

    iPhone 13 Pro Max = 28 hours

    5G connectivity

With 5G now in full swing, you’ll be glad to hear that the iPhone 13 takes full advantage of the current 5G speeds. Plus, you can even control how much you use and switch down from 5G if you want to save power and don’t need the speed.

    Storage

The iPhone 13 is like having a computer in the palm of your hand. Plus, with the incredible camera capabilities and the rise of mobile phone gaming, you’re going to want a decent amount of storage space for all your favourite apps and those treasured snaps. Once again, the iPhone 13 delivers. Apple has decided to scrap the 64GB option this time around with all models coming in at 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB. And if that’s not enough for you, the Pro and the Pro Max will also have a 1TB option. The first time on an iPhone.

How much will the iPhone 13 cost?

It really depends on the model you buy and the data plan you choose. Handset prices for the iPhone 13 start at £679 and range up to £1,549 for the Pro Max with 1TB storage. But don’t forget we work with Three, Vodafone, and O2 to bring you competitive pay monthly contracts that are great for helping you spread the cost.
