You’ll sometimes find 3G referred to as UMTS or W-CDMA, which refer to specific types of 3G services. Other 3G abbreviations include HSDPA and HSUPA; these are high-speed services that’ll improve web browsing and email on your phone. You may even find 3G being called ‘mobile broadband’ because it can connect you to the internet as quickly as many home computers.
Choosing 3G
A 3G phone is unlikely to be any larger or any more complicated than a standard ‘2G’ handset.
