There are five mobile phone networks in the UK: Vodafone, O2, Orange, T-Mobile and 3. All five networks offer a choice of pay monthly and pay as you go services and all are available from Mobile Phones Direct.
Choosing the right network is usually fairly straightforward. Unlike the early days of mobile communication, most of the UKs population is now covered by mobile phone service. However, there are still a few areas where one network may offer better coverage, so its always worth checking before you connect.

Choosing the right tariff or price plan isnt quite as easy. Each network offers a range of tariffs with different costs for calls, text messages, picture messages and other services. Pick a pay monthly contract and youll receive an allowance of calls and text messages as part of the monthly cost. Choose pay as you go and theres no regular monthly cost but theres still a choice of tariffs. Some networks offer a fixed cost for each prepay call, while others let you pay on a sliding scale with calls costing less after the first few minutes each day.
